NASA has Discovered a leet of New Earth-Like Planets in the Solar System

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA has announced a news that would delight people all over the world. Scientists last week found a fleet of new planets, and not just any old exoplanets. The scientists unveiled a solar system that seem to be jam-packed with earth-sized worlds. The season probably-rock bodies can be a great place to look for life. Furthermore, the good people at NASA headquarters have created an entirely new website that’s devoted to the TRAPPIST-1 system. The scientists freaked out upon seeing the earth-like planets outside earths solar system, which they call TRAPPIST-1. The newly-discovered worlds are about 40 light years away from Earth. This means that using a rocket technology today, and plenty of cash, it probably would take about 11,250 years to get to TRAPPIST-1.

EARTH-SIZED WORLDS DISCOVERED IN SPACE BY NASA

NASA’s expert, Aki Roberge helps plan future missions for NASA to provide updated space news on their new discovery. Roberge stated that the most exciting thing for actual scientists is that these planets are near enough that they could actually be studied, especially when the James Webb Space Telescope launches. When it launches, it would have a real shot at actually taking a look at the planets’ atmosphere, that is, if they have atmospheres at all. It is like a promise of future excitement. People would think this is similar to the stuff that NASA’s been doing already. In some aspect, it is. However, it is a smaller start, closer to earth and has more planets that are really tightly packed. The closer the system is to earth’s solar system, the more the star is similar to the sun and the planet is like Earth, the more likely that people will understand what they are looking for, which makes it exciting.

The masses and sizes of these planets is truly valuable information since it does suggests that most are rocky. Six of the seven planets appear like they are rocky. Furthermore, being earth-sized, it seems a good place, an atmosphere that is thick enough to keep warm and last billions of years, but not so thick that one would end up being a gas giant planet. However, there are reasons to consider that being a rock in the habitable zone of a red dwarf is actually not a nice place to live, and that the environments are very much different from the Earth’s solar system. Many of these investigations, which are going forward over the next ten years are to find the answers to the questions.

Most of these planets have the right distance from a start that perhaps they can have liquid water on their surfaces, but this is a big maybe. The big deal about rocky planets is that they are the only kind of planets that people could live and with habitable conditions of life, life that could actually be understood or recognized from interstellar distances. In the solar system, the earth is unique in a truly important way. It is the only planet with surface life so abundant that it is affecting the atmosphere, that’s noticeable from interstellar distances.

The discovery of these planets would make people realize that we have neighbors. As far as the laws of physics allow, one could get to TRAPPIST-1 in a human lifetime, forty years traveling at the speed of light. Thus, it becomes more a problem of engineering than laws of physics problem. For all we know, TRAPPIST-1 can have black sand beaches that are surrounded by purples oceans full of hyper-intelligent jellyfish. Scientists said that it is possible that the planets are positioned with a light side and dark side, which can make for some interesting forms of life and some truly weird weather patterns, but for now they are unsure.

NASA is not alone in making delightful content for the curious planets, since Google Doodle is also making content that is downright adorable. The Google site is bursting with all the knowledge that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has to share regarding the seven planets as well as their tiny start. Scientists would continue observing the system with space telescopes, such as Spitzer, Keple and Hubble to find out information as much as they can. When the James Webb telescope was launched in 2018, it actually could measure the temperature of the planets and determine the chemical compositions of their atmosphere. This could tell whether the three planets sitting in the habitable zone of TRAPPIST-1 could actually hold liquid water.

The distances which the planets orbit Trappist-1 could be compared to Jupiter’s distance to its moons. All the planets are believed to be rocky and believed to be about Earth’s size, give or take ten to twenty percent. The dimness of the star is actually what led to the discovery of the planets. When astronomers were looking for exoplanets, typically they look for a temporary dimming of a start, which is an indication that a planet has passed in front of it. The method makes it difficult to find small, rocky worlds that are orbiting bright, big stars.
